【気体と液体が混在する場の複雑な熱流動現象を解明する】
水だけや空気だけの流れを「単相流」、水と空気が混ざった流れを「気液二相流」と呼びます。単相流でも熱と流れの様相は複雑ですが、気液二相流では、さらに気体と液体の界面が時々刻々と複雑に変化するため、熱流動現象の理解は気が遠くなるほど困難になります。大川研究室では、大きいものでは発電プラントの安全性向上、小さいものでは次世代CPUの冷却手法の確立を目指して、「気液二相流」のメカニズム解明に取り組んでいます。
