Science English for International Communication  science English, communication abilities, international, applied/pragmatic, career English, academic English, presentation, argument/expression opinions, discussion skills  2011/05-2014/03  This research project studies the composition of science English as a language genre analyzing the characteristics of spoken language, written language with specific focus on the necessary grammatical and lexical features needed by the students majoring in science and engineering in a large sense. It also works on the teaching methodologies of such a special genre of English language to the undergraduate and graduate students at Japanese universities. In addition, teaching materials which can be used by the science-major teachers as a common teaching package for all students at UEC are to be developed in a team.
